In Caerphilly Borough there is no emergency accommodation provision for rough sleepers whilst long-term solutions are being sought. This night shelter project fills the gap during the winter months in providing safety and refuge for those who do not have the option of temporary or permanent accommodation and continue to struggle with their cycle of homelessness and addiction
Our aim to offer a safe, warm and secure place that is welcoming to anyone over the age of 18 who would otherwise be forced to sleep rough in all the areas of Caerphilly Borough.
The Church Night Shelter Scheme operates from December to March
Each of the churches, taking part in the Scheme operates as a shelter one night per week providing food and a place to sleep for around eight guests.
There is a Project Coordinator Rev. Sue Phillips who assists with Best Practise compliance, the general smooth running of the shelter, liaises with the Churches, Police, Local Authority etc.
Andrew Clarke andrew@cornerstonesupportserviceslimited.com is the Rough Sleeper Coordinator and works with guests to find secure accommodation and self-stability
